A washing machine can place a significant load on home wiring and is often installed near wet areas. An old socket, weak extension lead, or loose contact can cause overheating and breaker trips.
If other high-power appliances share the same circuit, a dedicated line from the panel with proper cable and breaker protection is safer.
The socket should not heat up, smell burnt, or hold the plug loosely. The breaker must match the cable and load, not simply be upsized when it trips.
If the breaker trips, the socket heats up, an extension lead is used, or the wiring condition is unclear, call an electrician for diagnostics and safe connection.
