Cooktop Electrical Line: Cable, Breaker and RCD

Cooktop Electrical Line: Cable, Breaker and RCD
25.05.2026 Electrical equipment connection

A cooktop and electric oven are among the highest-load kitchen appliances. They should not be connected to a random socket group without checking cable size, breaker, RCD and grounding.

What should be checked?

An electrician should calculate appliance power, cable length, cable size, breaker rating, RCD protection and grounding. The breaker must protect the cable, not hide an overloaded line.

Warning signs

If the breaker trips, the socket or terminal box gets warm, there is a plastic smell or lights flicker, the line should be tested under load.
