An EV charging line at home must be designed for long high-load operation. A normal socket and old cable may not be safe for this use.
Before installing a wallbox, the charger power, cable size, breaker, electrical panel, grounding and total home load should be reviewed.
Charging can last for hours, so a dedicated line reduces the risk of hot sockets, overheated cables and weak contacts. The breaker must match the cable.
If you plan to install an EV charger, an electrician should calculate the load, inspect the panel and choose a safe wiring setup.
