Wire connections are a common hidden source of overheating and short circuits. If a contact in a junction box, socket or panel is loose, the line may still work while slowly heating and damaging insulation.
An electrician checks terminals, old twists, cable ends, junction boxes and breakers in the panel. High-load lines such as kitchens, water heaters, air conditioners and washing machines need extra attention.
Burning smell, a warm socket, darkened insulation, flickering lights or frequent breaker trips require diagnostics. The cause must be fixed at the connection point, not hidden by installing a larger breaker.
