Old electrical wiring may still work, but modern loads can expose weak cables, loose contacts, breaker trips and socket overheating.
If sockets get hot, breakers trip, lights flicker, there is a smell or the home relies on many extension cords, the wiring should be checked. Replacing one socket may not solve the real issue.
An electrician should evaluate cable size, breakers, the panel, sockets, grounding and real loads. High-power appliances often need dedicated circuits.
If there is smell, heating, sparking or repeated trips, stop using the line until it is inspected. The safer approach is to find the cause and renew weak sections.
